🚗 Luxury
Plush Point: BMW 530Li M Sport
The BMW 5 Series has had it tougher in the past. Some years ago, the 5 Series had to shoulder the responsibility of delivering faultlessly as a driver’s car, wearing its BMW emblem with a degree of seriousness. It was at a time when this class of sedans were the flagbearers of their brand identity. You bought a 5 Series if you wanted to be seen as an enthusiast and an E-Class if you didn’t.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ launched in Thailand: Why India should get it next!
Land Cruiser FJ: Design
Design-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ inherits the trademark boxy silhouette of its larger Land Cruiser siblings. Buyers can choose between two distinct front-end designs - one featuring rounded headlights and the other with rectangular units. A compact rectangular grille, LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs, and chunky front and rear bumpers enhance its rugged character. The look is further amplified by thick body cladding, flared rectangular wheel arches, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
The Land Cruiser FJ also features removable front and rear corner bumpers, making it easier and more cost-effective to replace damaged sections after a tough off-road session. This is something hardcore off-roaders will definitely appreciate. Customers can also customise with a wide range of accessories available, including rock rails, raised air intakes, roof-mounted ARB racks, and MOLLE panels on the tailgate for extra gear storage.
Land Cruiser FJ: Interior and features
Moving inside, the FJ stays true to Toyota’s rugged and functional design DNA. It features a chunky steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and a wide infotainment display. Physical climate control knobs and a robust gear shifter lend it practicality. Safety-wise, the FJ comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard, which includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and pre-collision braking.
Why the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Makes a Strong Case for India
Positioned as the most accessible Land Cruiser, the FJ combines off-road capability with a more practical approach. In India, Toyota’s SUV portfolio is focused on urban-oriented models such as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and premium offerings like the Fortuner and Land Cruiser 300. There is limited presence in the sub-₹40 lakh segment for a purpose-built off-road SUV. The FJ could fill this space, offering a more lifestyle-focused alternative below the Fortuner.
Luxury carmakers bet on buyback schemes to drive sales
Luxury carmakers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volvo Cars are increasingly leveraging structured incentive and buyback programmes, with varying degrees of flexibility, to boost sales and ease ownership concerns. BMW India’s ‘Assured Buyback’, part of its BMW 360 programme, offers up to 70% of the ex-showroom price on models such as the X1, 3 Series and 5 Series among the highest in the segment, according to the brand. The scheme allows customers to lock in future value, lowering loan exposure and EMIs, while offering flexibility on tenure and mileage. At the end of the term, customers can return, retain or upgrade the vehicle. “The programme has seen strong traction in EVs, with over 90% of BMW Financial Services customers opting for it. ” said Hardeep Brar, BMW Group India.

Mahindra XUV 7XO review: Screens don’t matter; suspension does
In a market obsessed with ‘connected cars’, Mahindra has shown that the most important ‘connection’ is the one between tyres and the road. The new XUV 7XO is not just a name change and cosmetic touches to the XUV 700, nor is it about the triple-screen layout on the dashboard – the real deal is its DaVinci suspension. With prices ranging from Rs 13.66 lakh to Rs 25.07 lakh (ex-showroom), in both petrol and diesel options, this SUV aims to set a new benchmark in its segment.

Show and Tell: Harley-Davidson
Who thought Harley-Davidsons could be practical? No, the Breakout isn’t, but it makes every other Harley seem that way. Here’s a motorcycle that’s aimed squarely at those who want to make a style statement in big, sparkly letters, even if you only venture as far as down the block from where you live. A sort of factory-built chopper, the Breakout 117 is a proper 10-gallon hat tip (or whatever is the Milwaukee equivalent) to the American custom motorcycle culture so popularised through television programming even in India.
